14-Year-Old Arrested For Alleged Murder Of Dr. Adefolalu, Varsity Lecturer In Minna

In the murder case of Federal University of Technology Minna lecturer Dr. Funmilola Sherifat Adefolalu, the deceased’s former housemaid, Joy Afekafez, 14, has been arrested by the Niger State Police Command.

At around 9:00 p.m. on Monday, Afekafez was arrested at a house in Minna’s Gbeganu neighborhood. The accused was detained on suspicion of culpable homicide.

DSP Wasiu Abiodun, the Police Public Relations Officer of Niger State Command, stated that Afekafez admitted after questioning that she had worked as Dr. Adefolalu’s housemaid for roughly three weeks prior to being fired because of her misbehavior. She was accused of plotting to attack the lecturer at her home with two classmates, Walex and Smart, after she was fired.

According to reports, the three of them showed up at Dr. Adefolalu’s house on Saturday at 4 p.m. Walex and Smart entered the premises after Afekafez showed up at the gate, and Dr. Adefolalu opened it for her. They allegedly thrashed the lecturer, struck her in the head with a stool, and repeatedly stabbed her with knives. After taking the battery out of a car that was parked on the property, the suspects are said to have left the area.
