Kunle Afolayan’s ‘Anikulapo’ has won the award for the best film in an African language in the 19th annual Africa Movie Academy Awards (AMAA) that took place yesterday, in Lagos.
The Balmoral Convention Center inside the Sheraton Hotel, Ikeja GRA, where the event was hosted, was transformed into a stunning exhibition of African cinematic excellence.
The evening’s main attraction was “Anikulapo,” a masterful film produced by the well-known Kunle Afolayan.
In addition to grabbing viewers’ interest, the movie won the esteemed Ousmane Sembene Award for Best Film in an African Language.
For his outstanding work on “Anikulapo,” the late Pat Nebo was awarded the Best Achievement in Production Design posthumously.
The dynamic team of Nancy Isime, Rahama Sadau, and Richard Ato Turkson skillfully coordinated the event.
The awards for Best Actor and Actress in a Leading Role went to Tobi Bakre and Nse Ikpe Etim, respectively.
The AMAA, a mark of distinction in African film, once again brought attention to the abundance of skill and originality that African filmmakers bring to the international scene.
