Nigerian Senator, Shehu Sani has decried the number of Nigerians who applied for the NNPCL job while there was low turn out in the number of voters that turned up to cast their vote in the 2023 presidential election.
Recall that the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) said it is set to hire more workers.
A statement published on the company’s website on Friday, disclosed that the recruitment would be for various positions across various departments within the energy company.
Sani while observing the number of applicants took to his twitter handle on Friday to express his position on the issue.
Sani wrote, “Twenty million people reportedly applied for the NNPCL job? And only 3 out of 10 illegible Nigerians turned out for the 2023 election.
Meanwhile, reacting to his comments, Some X users have taken time to share their thoughts.
Adewale ‘Damilare wrote, “We are our problems. Over 70% of us doesn’t vote!.”
Another twitter user, ADAM BEDEMASI .M tweeted, “There’s hunger bros.”
“You never see anything. Now I can tell you that 19 million out of that 20 applied to get the opportunity to steal some of the national cake & the rest 1 million applied because it’s the oil sector,” Niké tweeted.
“You can’t blame them, the purported 300,000 jobs created by Shettima and his govt must have been for friends, families and cronies. This is an opportunity for the masses to grab their own share of the national cake As for the election, they knew the system was rigged against dem,” another twitter user FirmamentSpeaks wrote.
Another X user, Believe added, “Jobs vacancies that politicians may have already shared within themselves? All this are mere formalities definitely bcos of this protest, they’re trying to create fake impressions. Nothing is real with this people in govt.”
