26-Year-Old Electrician Faces Charges for Motorcycle Theft in Kaduna

Joseph Sunday, a 26-year-old electrician, has found himself in the legal spotlight as he was brought before the Upper Customary Court over an alleged theft of a motorcycle in Kafanchan, Kaduna State.

The Kaduna State Police have charged Joseph Sunday an Electrician with offenses related to criminal trespass and theft, in contravention of the provisions outlined in sections 327 and 270 of the Kaduna State Penal Code Law.

According to the police prosecutor, Peter Joseph, the case was initiated by a complaint filed by Bitrus Dogara, who reported the incident to the Kafanchan Divisional Police Station on November 8.

 Dogara alleged that his motorcycle had been stolen from the premises of the Kafanchan General Hospital, and subsequent investigations led to the recovery of the stolen motorcycle in Joseph Sunday’s possession.

Joseph Sunday, when confronted with the charges in court, pleaded not guilty.

The prosecutor requested an adjournment to prepare and present his witnesses.

In response, the presiding judge, George Gwani, granted the defendant bail in the amount of N35,000 and required a surety of equal value.

The case has been adjourned until November 15 for further proceedings.
