Renowned broadcaster and journalist, Oseni Rufai has criticized the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited, NNPCL over the news of ‘supposed’ commencement of the Portharcourt refinery.
Earlier on Tuesday, the NNPCL, has announced that the Port Harcourt refinery has began loading petroleum products, including petrol, diesel and kerosene, while other products will be dispatched as well.
However, reacting to this development, Rufai took to his official X handle to state that he will only believe the news if the refinery supply petroleum product to IPMAN consistently for one year.
He further disclosed some analysis to support his comment.
His post reads,”On the 8th of Aug 2024 they claim the PH refinery will supply marketers 12 m litres till date we saw nothing? And when Femi Falana took the contractors to court they claimed not to know when the refinery will be completed.
“All of a sudden the start magically singing the same refinery is ready to push out products. I repeat until the supply marketers for 1 year then i believe them.
“The same government told us the refinery will be producing petrol in August we heard nothing, They told us Portharcourt refinery was mechanical completed we saw nothing. Hope the two complexes are completed?
“And Hope people will not go and buy cracked C5 and blend it with naphtha and call it fuel and sell to the public oo. The truth will come out, I want the refinery to work but we must tel the truth at all times.
“Until Port Harcourt refinery start to supply petrol to IPMAN &petrol for the next 1 year consistently then I know the refinery is ready, they told us stories before no be today,” he added.
