The Anambra State Government has approved a contract worth N1.01 billion for the installation of 1,130 solar-powered streetlights across Awka metropolis.
The contract was awarded to three companies for the supply and installation of the streetlights across three designated lots within the city.
This decision was part of the resolutions made during the 35th Anambra State Executive Council (ANSEC) meeting, as detailed in a statement by the Commissioner for Information, Law Mefor, on Wednesday.
Under the agreement, Lot 1 was awarded to VIGEO-DOME LTD for the supply and installation of 544 solar streetlights at a cost of N460,732,148.31, with a delivery timeline of three months after the mobilisation fee. Lot 2, awarded to FRANKTORCH NIG LTD, involves the supply and installation of 346 solar streetlights at a cost of N385,605,574.49, to be completed within two months of mobilisation. Lot 3 was awarded to HONEYDOVE INTEGRATED for the supply and installation of 240 solar streetlights at N163,800,279.72, also with a delivery timeline of two months after mobilisation.

The Council also approved the rehabilitation of the vandalized substation at Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University, Igbariam campus, awarding the ₦228.1 million contract to Kohl Ventures.
To promote local commerce, the construction of 151 open stalls at Afuzo Market, Isuofia, in Aguata LGA, was assigned to Crystal Dove Construction Company.
In the health sector, a significant boost was provided with the approval for the supply and installation of medical equipment at Specialist Hospital, Onitsha, and General Hospital, Anaku. The project will be handled by CHRISLAUG LTD.
