Suspected thugs on Monday disrupted proceedings at the Edo State High Court in Benin, where the pre-hearing session of the governorship election tribunal was scheduled to hold.
The hearing centered on challenges to the validity of the September 21 governorship election results announced by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
The chaos began when supporters of seven political parties contesting the victory of the All Progressives Congress (APC) arrived at the court.
Shortly after their arrival, unidentified individuals attacked them with stones and other objects outside the courtroom.
In response to the violence, security agents quickly intervened, blocking the court entrance to prevent further escalation.
