Former Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar’s Special Assistant on Public Communication, Phrank Shaibu, on Saturday tackled Kashim Shettima over his statement regarding the newly elected United Kingdom’s Conservative Party leader, Kemi Badenoch.
Ms. Badenoch has faced consistent criticism from many Nigerians, including public figures, in recent months for her frequent condemnation of the country’s rampant corruption and unstable security situation, particularly when discussing Nigeria in the British media.
Many viewed Ms. Badenoch’s remarks about Nigeria as disparaging including Shettima who accused Badenoch of disparaging her country of origin, Nigeria, after she emerged as the UK’s Conservative Party leader.
Mr. Shettima recently suggested that if Ms. Badenoch no longer wishes to be associated with Nigeria, she should consider changing her name, emphasizing her disapproval of her stance on the nation.

However, commenting on Shettima’s reaction, Shaibu said that despite bearing the name Kemi, it does not automatically make Badenoch a Nigerian.
Posting on X, Shaibu said Arsenal football club’s Gabriel Jesus is not the son of God. He urged those criticizing her to pause and think again. He further charged Kashim Shettima to find something useful to do with his time.
His post reads,”Those criticizing@KemiBadenoch should pause for a moment of introspection.
“The mere fact that her name is Kemi or that she has Yoruba roots does not automatically render her Nigerian. After all, Arsenal’s Gabriel Jesus@gabrieljesus9 is not the son of God…@officialSKSM should find something useful to do with his time!”
