Apple Co-founder Hospitalized in Mexico After Fainting

Steve Wozniak, the co-founder of Apple and a pioneer of personal computing, was hospitalised on Wednesday in Mexico City after fainting minutes before his scheduled speech at a business conference.

Mr Wozniak, 73, was taken to the hospital at 3:00 p.m. local time after experiencing a possible stroke, according to CNN. He was supposed to speak at the World Business Forum (WBF) in the Santa Fe neighbourhood of the Mexican capital.

Sources close to Mr Wozniak told CNN that he might have suffered from vertigo, a condition that causes a feeling of motion or spinning, often described as dizziness. His current health status is unknown.

Mr Wozniak, also known as Woz, is widely regarded as one of the most influential figures in the history of computing. He designed the Apple I and Apple II computers in the 1970s, which revolutionised the industry and established Apple as a market leader.

He co-founded Apple with the late Steve Jobs in 1976 in Mr Jobs’ California garage. While Mr Jobs was the visionary and marketing expert, Mr Wozniak was the technical engineer behind the systems.

Together, they built the company into the world’s most valuable company, known for its innovative and elegant products, such as the Macintosh, the iPod, the iPhone, and the iPad. Mr Wozniak left the company in 1985, but remains a shareholder and an advisor to the company. He has also been involved in various philanthropic and educational initiatives..
