Fighting Evil in Nigeria Is Never Easy, But Truth Is Only Weapon—Dele Farotimi Says After Release

After meeting his bail conditions and being released from detention, human rights lawyer and activist Dele Farotimi acknowledged that he knows that fighting evil will not be an easy journey.

Mr Farotimi was released on Tuesday after meeting his bail conditions.

He disclosed that God told him that the truth is enough having known that the journey wasn’t going to be an easy one.

Appreciating Nigerians who spoke out and condemned his violent arrest by the Nigerian police based on a petition by Mr Babalola, Mr Farotimi said he has never lied against anyone and that truth is his weapon.

“It will never be an easy journey when you are fighting evil,” Mr Farotimi said in a video after his release. “But some years back, God told me that ‘truth is enough.’”

“Only truth. It is the weapon by which you can slay the monster called Nigeria. In my fight and advocacy against this evil empire we are living in, I’ve never lied against anyone,” Mr Farotimi said.

Since his arrest on December 3, Mr Farotimi has spent about 20 days in detention.
