The Anambra State government, led by Governor Chukwuma Soludo, has come under criticism for allocating over N300 million to establish liaison offices in Abuja and Lagos.
Critics argue that these offices meant to showcase the state’s heritage, people, and governance to federal authorities, add little to Anambra’s economic growth.
Meanwhile, the state library, a critical resource for education and knowledge, needs just N10 million for repairs and upgrades. This disparity in funding priorities has sparked outrage among residents, educators, and stakeholders, who describe the move as misaligned with the state’s pressing needs.
The state library, which has been a hub for students, researchers, and the general public, has reportedly suffered from years of neglect, with leaking roofs and inadequate facilities. Calls for a mere N10 million to restore the library have so far gone unanswered.

“This is not just about the library; it’s about misplaced priorities,” said a concerned citizen. “If we can’t invest in education and knowledge, how do we expect to grow as a state?”
