After Backlash From Netizens, EFCC ‘Summons’ Billionaire Okoya Sons Over Viral Video of Naira Abuse

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has summoned Subomi and Wahab Okoya, sons of billionaire industrialist Razaq Okoya, for interrogation over abuse of the naira.

In an invitation signed by Michael Wetkas, Acting Director of the Lagos Directorate of the EFCC, the anti-graft agency directed the Okoya brothers to appear before its Special Operations Team at the commission’s office on 15A Awolowo Road, Lagos, at 10 a.m. on Monday, January 13, 2025.

Wahab and Subomi in a viral video on Friday were seen spraying naira notes from bundles of cash held by their police escort.

The video has generated outrage on social media after the Nigeria Police Force (NPF), Muyiwa Adejobi, announced the arrest of the police escort while Okoya’s son were left to go scort free.
