Lakurawa Terrorists Kill Three Telecom Staff, One Other in Kebbi

Terrorists from the Lakurawa group have killed three employees of a major telecommunications company, just a week after the group claimed the lives of two police officers.

The attackers reportedly targeted a construction site in Gumki village, located in the Arewa Local Government Area of Kebbi State.

According to a source, the victims were installing a surveillance mast for the Nigeria Immigration Service when the militants launched their assault, killing them along with one unidentified individual.

A staff member from Sir Yahaya Specialist Hospital confirmed that three of the victims brought to the hospital were personnel of the Nigeria Immigration Service.

However, SP Nafiu Abubakar, the Police Public Relations Officer, confirmed that four persons lost their lives, one indigene and three staff of Airtel.

According to him, “On receipt of the report, the Commissioner of Police, Kebbi State Command, CP Bello M Sani alongside with the Comptroller, Nigeria Immigration Service, Kebbi State Command, CIS Muhammad Bashir Lawali mobilized their men to the scene to evacuate the corpses to Sir Yahaya Memorial Hospital in Birnin Kebbi.”

He further said that the Commissioner of Police had deployed additional tactical teams to the area and charged them to decisively deal with the suspected bandits operating in the area.

The PPRO added that the CP had a meeting with people in the area and appealed to them to always assist the police and other security agencies with relevant information for their prompt response.
