Guber Poll: Bayelsa Governor Diri Slams APC Candidate Sylva as Violent and Unfit

Bayelsa Governor

Bayelsa State Governor Douye Diri has criticized the All Progressives Congress (APC) gubernatorial candidate Timipre Sylva, saying that he is a violent person who does not deserve the trust of the people.

Diri, who is the candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), made the remarks after casting his vote in his local government area on Saturday. He accused Sylva of using force and intimidation to win elections, and said that the people of Bayelsa deserve better.

“If you recall, the leader of the Ijaw nation, elder Edwin Clark, wrote a letter to him on why he has refused to drop his forceful and violent way of winning elections,” Diri said. “However, God is on the throne and we’re standing against him in his violent way of winning elections.”

Diri also alleged that Sylva’s deputy in Brass local government area threatened PDP members, saying that they would be thrown into the Atlantic Ocean if they were sighted. “He said that they’re not the first people to die,” Diri added.
