Rt Hon. Oriyomi Adewunmi Onanuga, popularly known as “Ijaya,” and a member of the Nigerian House of Representatives representing the Ikenne/Sagamu/Remo North Federal Constituency, has passed away.
SaharaReporters has confirmed that Onanuga, who served as the Deputy Chief Whip of the House of Representatives, died following a brief illness.
However, neither the National Assembly (NASS) nor her family has officially announced the news to the public.
Born on December 2, 1965, Onanuga was a politician and entrepreneur. She assumed the role of Deputy Chief Whip in 2023.

Onanuga was born in Hammersmith, London, to Nigerian parents. In 2019, she contested and won the election for a seat in the House of Representatives under the All Progressives Congress (APC).
She also served as the Chairperson of the House Committee on Women Affairs and Social Development.
