Rand Paul has criticized President Joe Biden’s decision to pre-emptively pardon Dr. Anthony Fauci, asserting that the move cements Fauci’s alleged culpability for the COVID-19 pandemic.
As a reaction to the pardons, Paul, who chairs the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee, vowed to investigate what he described as a “cover-up.”
Paul further claimed that Fauci’s pardon would hasten the unraveling of what he called a “veil of deception.” He added, “Ignominious! Anthony Fauci will go down in history as the first government scientist to be pre-emptively pardoned for a crime.”

He said, “If there was ever any doubt as to who bears responsibility for the COVID pandemic, Biden’s pardon of Fauci forever seals the deal. As Chairman of the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee I will not rest until the entire truth of the coverup is exposed.
“Fauci’s pardon will only serve as an accelerant to pierce the veil of deception. Ignominious! Anthony Fauci will go down in history as the first government scientist to be preemptively pardoned for a crime.”
This comes amidst heated debate over Biden’s pardons, which were intended to protect public servants from what the president labeled “unjustified… politically motivated prosecutions.”
