In a significant electoral development, Dino Melaye, the People Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, suffered a defeat in his stronghold as the All Progressive Congress (APC) emerged victorious in the Ijumu local government of Kogi state.
The official results, declared by the Local Government Returning Officer, Dr. Samuel Obasan, revealed that APC secured a substantial lead with 19,524 votes. In contrast, PDP trailed behind with 6,909 votes. The third position was claimed by the ADC with 1,898 votes, while the SDP garnered 356 votes.
