Controversial rapper Darlington Okoye, known as Speed Darlington, has disclosed that he has been arrested 19 times and detained on five separate occasions.
The rapper made this revelation in a freestyle video shared on his social media, where he rapped, “5 lockups, 19 arrests, I get game but I no dey hear, when you hear this one, na Kuje.”
Speed Darlington’s most recent arrest occurred twice in October and November 2024, following his mockery of Burna Boy’s relationship with embattled American music executive Sean Combs, aka Diddy.
He was subsequently detained at the Kuje Correctional Facility but was released on January 21st, after being granted bail by a Federal High Court in Abuja.
Shortly after his release, Speed Darlington claimed that he narrowly escaped an assassination attempt on his way from a club in Lagos.
Recall that His lawyer, Stan Alieke, later announced that he and his law firm had severed ties with the rapper due to the allegations of an assassination attempt.
In response, Speed Darlington stated that his lawyer was free to leave if he no longer wished to support him.
