Dogara Akolo-Moses, a police constable with the Mada Station Division of the Nasarawa Command of the Nigeria Police Force, has died by suicide.
Earlier in the day, Akolo-Moses was seen carrying out his duties in the Nasarawa Eggon Local Government Area.
According to a witness, he entered a private room and fatally shot himself.
The sound of the gunshot alerted fellow officers on duty, who rushed to the scene, only to find him lying in a pool of blood.
“Colleagues of the deceased who were outside the apartment heard the gunshot, prompting them to rush inside, where they found the officer lying on the floor with his gun beside him,” a source said.

The motive behind the act remained unclear at the time of this report.
The Public Relations Officer of the Nasarawa State Police Command, Ramhan Nansel, confirmed the tragic incident to journalists in Lafia on Wednesday.
He stated that an investigation is underway to determine the cause of the officer’s actions.
