Dr. Yunusa Tanko the National Coordinator of Obidient Movement in a statement lamented the level of insecurity in the country while calling on the federal and Anambra State government to take immediate action towards apprehending the culprits.
The statement reads,”OBIDIENTS Condemn the Gruesome Murder of Hon. Azuka.
“With sadness in our hearts, we condemn the killing of Hon Justice Azuka, the only son of his family, a quintessential public servant and the member representing Onitsha North 1 Constituency in the Anambra State House of Assembly.
“Recall that on Friday 27th December 2024 we issued a statement, beckoning on the security agencies to facilitate his unconditional release from the kidnappers den.
“However, it is unfortunate that Hon Azuka’s body was found lifeless on the wee hours of Thursday morning by security operatives beside the road at the second Niger Bridge, 44 days after he was whisked away.
“It is worthy of note that Hon. Azuka who was on constitutional assignment on Christmas Eve, personally distributing aids and palliatives to his constituents for the festivities was kidnapped along Ugwunaobankpa Road inland Town, Onitsha and later murdered in such cold blood; an exemplary public servant that was passionate to bring the dividends of democracy to the least person in his state constituency.

“Issues of national security are synonymous to life and national development; this and many more tragic occurrences in the country underscores the need for a state of emergency in the security umpire.
“If people are not safe to carry out their human and constitutional rights, how can the society become a better place? The security of lives and that of properties are the primary responsibilities of the government to the people.
“We’re thereby calling on the Federal Government, the Anambra State Government, all Security Agencies to gravitate towards apprehending the culprits and everyone involved in this heinous act using the apprehended suspects as a link and be brought to justice, also increase security surveillance in the state to avoid any further reoccurrence of such inhumane act.
“We extend our fellowship to the family at this time, the mother, wife, children and the entire Onitsha community for the fortitude to bare this irreparable loss. He was a great and loving man; may his soul rest in peace.
“With so much grief in our hearts, we are calling on the security architecture to beef up security in the state, neutralizing kidnappers den, and the swift expulsion of criminals from the state.
“Let us join hands together as we build a Nigeria that is safe for all, with the right people in Government and the right approach to fundamental security issues, this is POssible. Dr. Yunusa Tanko National CoordinatorObidient Movement.”
