This decision was announced in a statement on Wednesday by NLC President Joe Ajaero and NLC Secretary Emmanuel Ugboaja.

The Congress also condemned the government for its failure to shield citizens from corporate exploitation.

Additionally, the NLC reviewed the Tax Reform Bills and cautioned against policies that could place an even greater burden on Nigerian workers. While recognizing the importance of fiscal reforms, the Congress pledged to advocate for fair and worker-friendly tax policies.

If the tariff hike is not reversed by February 29, 2025, the NLC will initiate a nationwide telecom shutdown starting March 1, 2025. The Congress also called on civil society groups and all Nigerians to unite in protest against exploitative economic policies.
