Despite NYSC DG’s Promise of N77,000 Salary Increment for Corps Members in February, FG Still Pays N33,000

Corps members across the country are lamenting their situation after receiving a credit alert of N33,000, despite being promised a salary increment to N77,000 by the end of February by the Director-General of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Brigadier General Yushau Ahmed.

Recall that on January 31, the DG announced that payment of ₦77,000 to corps members will begin in February 2025.

He disclosed this while speaking to the 2024 Batch ‘C’ Stream II corps members in Kastina State.

“The Federal Government has already approved the increment of your allowance. It is no longer news; what we have the approval in our hands. What we are waiting for is just the passage of the budget.

“This month (January) has already ended, but once the budget is passed, by next month (February), you will start receiving N77,000 instead of the usual N33,000,” he said.

However, the reverse is the case as the Federal government disbursed the same N33,000 on Friday as salary of corp members.

Faith a corp member serving in Abuja while showing her displeasure about the incident took to her WhatsApp status and wrote,” Gentlemen corp members, this is a sign to trust neither in FG or in DG or NG or in any earthly thing that has a G in it but to trust totally in God. We go again next month.”

Another serving corp member in Ekiti who pleaded anonymity shared a screenshot of the alert while saying,”NYSC go whine you but no panic.”
