JUST IN: Ramadan — Hisbah Arrests Youths for Not Fasting on First Day of Holy Month

Operatives of the Hisbah Board in Kano State have arrested several young men accused of not observing the Ramadan fast on the first day of the holy month.

The Deputy Commander General of the Board, Dr. Mujahideen Abubakar, confirmed the arrests to journalists in the state.

He explained that the suspects were apprehended during routine patrols carried out by Hisba officers across different parts of Kano metropolis.

In addition, the board arrested about 60 individuals for sporting “indecent haircuts,” which it said violated Islamic law and local cultural norms.

Furthermore, Hisbah officials detained some commercial tricycle (keke napep) drivers for allegedly mixing male and female passengers in their vehicles—an act the board emphasized it would not tolerate.

The Board pledged to continue its patrols to ensure strict compliance with Sharia law throughout the Ramadan period.
