JUST IN: NLC Imposes Stay-At-Home Strike, Locks Out Civil Servants in Plateau State

NLC

Civil servants in Plateau State faced a sudden disruption today as members of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) took action by locking the gates of both the State and Federal secretariats.

Workers, arriving for their duties on Tuesday, were met with closed entrances, as NLC members announced the commencement of a stay-at-home strike from 12 am.

The State Secretariat witnessed a reversal of its usual bustling activity, with employees redirected back home by labor union members who stood guard at the locked gates. A similar scene unfolded at the nearby Federal secretariat, located approximately 300 meters away.

In addition to government offices, the impact of the strike extended to banks in the state capital, Jos, where some bankers sought permission to operate skeletal services for the day, expressing a commitment to full compliance with the strike tomorrow.

At the Federal Secretariat, NLC leaders declined to comment, deferring the responsibility to their chapter for interactions with reporters.

As the situation unfolds, further details are expected to emerge.
