FIFA President Gianni Infantino has announced that the 2026 FIFA World Cup final will feature a half-time show, marking a historic first for the global tournament.
Infantino made the announcement on Wednesday via his official Instagram handle, revealing that the performance will take place at the final in New York, New Jersey, in partnership with Global Citizen.
Infantino stated, “I can confirm the first-ever half-time show at a FIFA World Cup final in New York, New Jersey, in association with Global Citizen.”

He also stated that British pop-rock band Coldplay will play a role in selecting the artists. “I want to thank Chris Martin and Phil Harvey of Coldplay, who will be working with us at FIFA to finalise the list of artists who will perform during the half-time show, as well as at Times Square.”
Additionally, FIFA will take over Times Square during the tournament’s final weekend to celebrate the event.
“These will be two incredible matches featuring some of the best players in the world, and what better way to celebrate them than in the historic Times Square in New York City,” Infantino added.

The 2026 FIFA World Cup, co-hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico, will be the largest in history, expanding from 32 to 48 teams. The final is scheduled to take place at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey, on July 19, 2026.
The announcement has drawn comparisons to the NFL’s Super Bowl half-time shows, raising anticipation about how FIFA will manage the performances and which artists will take the stage.
