Workers from various sectors in Nasarawa State participated in the ongoing warning strike by the organized Labour unions, bringing official activities to a standstill on Tuesday.
The strike, led by Nasarawa State NLC Chairman Ismaila Okoh, witnessed a complete shutdown of the banking industry, state secretariat, and judicial sector, causing significant inconveniences for individuals seeking legal attention.
The normally bustling federal secretariat saw only security personnel as a visible presence, actively guarding against potential unrest amid the ongoing strike.
Major banks in the state adhered strictly to the directives of the Labour union, remaining closed throughout the duration of the strike.
Ismaila Okoh, alongside other union officials, traversed the city of Lafia, reinforcing the strike’s enforcement while appealing to both state and federal governments to implement relief measures for workers grappling with heightened hardship following the recent fuel subsidy removal.

Meanwhile, students from both the state and the Federal University in Lafia expressed apprehension about the strike’s impact on their academic pursuits, calling for urgent resolutions to minimize disruptions to their studies.
As the strike commenced, security measures were heightened across Lafia and key locations in the state to preempt any uncertainties.
The Nasarawa Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Ramhan Nansel, reassured residents of a peaceful environment during the nationwide strike, urging them to report any suspicious activities to security agencies for prompt intervention.
The collective action by workers in Nasarawa State underscores the widespread concern and calls for remedial measures amidst the challenging economic landscape.
