Senator Natasha: Akpabio Should be in Prison – Chief Tola Adeniyi

Chief Tola Adeniyi, a prominent Nigerian public figure, has condemned the continued leadership of Senator Godswill Akpabio as President of the Nigerian Senate, stating that Akpabio should be in prison due to unresolved charges against him.

In a recent interview, Adeniyi expressed his dismay at the current state of Nigerian politics, particularly pointing out the hypocrisy and contradictions within the country’s leadership.

He argued that a person like Akpabio, who is facing serious corruption charges, should not be in any position of power, let alone lead the Senate.

Adeniyi also criticized the lack of accountability surrounding Akpabio’s legal troubles, pointing out that investigations into his alleged involvement in embezzlement have not been resolved, with no action taken despite the charges.

According to him, charges involving billions of naira remain hanging over Akpabio, yet he continues to wield power and influence within the Senate.

“In a civil society, Akpabio should be in prison,” Adeniyi remarked, emphasizing the grave disconnect between the country’s political elite and the struggles faced by ordinary Nigerians.

He further expressed his frustration with Akpabio’s tenure as Senate President, calling his actions as nothing short of a “clownish” performance.

Adeniyi stated that the Senate, under Akpabio’s leadership, has failed to make significant strides or implement effective reforms.

He lamented that the Senate, once regarded as the most respected political body, has been reduced to a platform for self-serving individuals like Akpabio, who continue to tarnish the nation’s reputation.

In light of recent allegations of sexual harassment made against Akpabio by Senator Natasha Akpabio, Adeniyi described the country as “a joke” when it comes to holding political figures accountable for their actions.

He argued that Nigeria’s failure to properly investigate such accusations reflects a deeper systemic issue that prevents justice from prevailing.

Adeniyi urged for thorough investigations into the allegations and emphasized that both sides of the issue should be given due process.

However, he remained skeptical, attributing the lack of action to Nigeria’s deeply ingrained political dysfunction.
