NYSC Official Threatens Corps Member for Criticizing Tinubu’s Government Over Hardship on TikTok

A female corps member has accused an official of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) of threatening her after she criticized Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s government over Nigeria’s worsening economic hardship.

In a viral video shared on X, she expressed frustration over inflation and its impact on citizens, stating that she was struggling financially.

Shortly after posting the video, she allegedly received calls from the NYSC Secretariat, including the Secretary and Local Government Inspector (LGI), demanding that she take it down.

According to the corps member, the NYSC official accused her of insulting the Tinubu, a claim she denied. She insisted that she only called for accountability and described the administration as “terrible” without using derogatory language.

She also revealed that NYSC has access to her home address, making the threats even more concerning. An audio clip she shared allegedly captured the official shouting and warning her about the consequences of her statement.

However, calls have been made for NYSC Lagos, led by Christiana Salmwang, to publicly denounce the threats, with some activists giving a 24-hour ultimatum for a response.

The incident has sparked outrage, with many Nigerians condemning the alleged intimidation and questioning why a federal agency is involved in silencing criticism instead of addressing the root issues.

As of this press time, NYSC has not issued an official statement regarding the allegations.

Many Nigerians are closely watching to see if NYSC will address the matter or if further action will be taken against the corps member.
