Lagos State Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Philip Wahab, has come under scrutiny for sharing an old video to accuse an individual of illegal waste disposal, a move flagged as misleading by X Community Notes.
In a post on his official X account, Wahab alleged that on March 13, 2025, at 7:47 a.m., a woman identified as Nwakwo Patient was caught illegally dumping refuse at Alimosho Bus Stop along New Ipaja Road.
He further claimed that investigations at her residence revealed the absence of a designated waste storage facility and that she failed to provide proof of registration with a waste collection service.

Wahab stated that the woman would be prosecuted under the Lagos State Environmental Management and Protection Law of 2017.
His words on his official X handle, On 13 March 2025, at approximately 7:47 a.m., an individual identified as Nwakwo Patient was observed illegally dumping refuse at Alimosho Bus Stop along New Ipaja Road.
“Further investigations at her residence confirmed the absence of a designated waste storage facility. While the suspect claimed to be registered with the Private Sector Participant (PSP) operator servicing the area, she was unable to provide any supporting evidence of such registration or payment for waste collection services.
“The suspect will be prosecuted in accordance with the Lagos State Environmental Management and Protection Law of 2017 to ensure compliance with waste management regulations,’ he added.
However, Parallel Facts discovered that the X Community Notes has since flagged the post, revealing that the video in question was recorded in 2023, not 2025 and it’s being peddled to manipulate tribal sentiments and spread misinformation.
