The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) Chairman, Brig-Gen. Buba Marwa (retd), has opened a clinic and drug rehabilitation center in Maiduguri, Borno State.
The 30-bed facility will provide clients with a safe and supportive environment to undergo detoxification and receive professional medical treatment and care.
Marwa emphasized the importance of the new facility in addressing the drug crisis in Borno State and across the country.
He stated, “The drug scourge has reached unacceptable heights in Nigeria, and we must collectively collaborate to fight it.”
Marwa commended the commitment of Borno State Governor Babagana Zulum and the Shehu of Borno, Alhaji Abubakar El-Kanemi, in supporting the fight against drug abuse.
He also met with various stakeholders, including religious leaders, head teachers, and officials of the Federal Neuro Psychiatric Hospital, Maiduguri, to discuss strategies for curbing drug use.

Expressing gratitude for the hospital’s donation of medical beds to the rehabilitation facility, Marwa noted that this support will significantly enhance drug demand reduction activities.
The hospital’s Medical Director, Prof. Ibrahim Wakawa, reaffirmed their commitment to assisting the NDLEA in this crucial endeavor.
The NDLEA’s inauguration of the clinic and drug rehabilitation center in Maiduguri marks a crucial step towards addressing the drug abuse problem in Borno State and Nigeria as a whole.
The facility’s comprehensive approach to treatment and rehabilitation will provide much-needed support to individuals struggling with addiction, paving the way for a healthier and more productive future. (NAN)
