Anambra Governor Prof. Chukwuma Soludo affirmed that his late father, Pa Simeon Soludo, would be laid to rest in strict accordance with Anambra State burial laws.
He made this known in a solemn response to condolences from the State Executive Council. Emphasizing his commitment to a dignified ceremony, the governor acknowledged the thoughtful solidarity extended during this challenging period.
Notably, Soludo stressed the symbolic coincidence of his father’s demise, occurring on the anniversary of his election at 7:45 am on November 6, 2023. He assured that the burial would adhere to Anambra’s regulations, avoiding extravagance and adhering to decency.
The governor alluded to the state’s burial laws, enacted in 2019 and reinforced recently, outlining key provisions. These include restrictions on erecting billboards, limiting mortuary stays to two months, obtaining permission for road closures, and prohibiting public display of caskets for sale.
