Justice Hamza Muazu of the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Abuja, has issued an order for the remand of the ex-Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Godwin Emefiele, in Kuje prison.
The decision will stand until the court reaches a verdict on his bail application, scheduled for November 22.
The application for bail was presented by Emefiele’s lead counsel, Mathew Burkaa, SAN. However, Rotimi Oyedepo, representing the Federal Government, strongly opposed the request.
Following arguments from both sides, Justice Muazu opted not to deliver an immediate bench ruling, citing the numerous legal authorities referenced by the opposing parties.
