Lagos: Appeal Court Sacks LP’s Olukayode Doherty, Declares APC’s Rauf Suleiman Winner

The Appeal Court has handed a decisive verdict in favor of the All Progressives Congress (APC), unseating Olukayode Doherty of the Labour Party (LP), and declaring Rauf Age-Suleiman as the rightful winner in the Lagos State House of Assembly election for Amuwo-Odofin II Constituency.

The ruling, which upholds a previous decision by the Election Petition Tribunal, directs the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to issue the certificate of return to Age-Suleiman, solidifying his victory in the contested election.

Citing the provisions of the Electoral Act 2022, the court ruled that a candidate cannot be declared the winner if they did not actively participate in the entire election process.
