Funso Doherty, the governorship candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Lagos State, has penned an open letter to the Governor, expressing serious reservations about the reported public procurement awards by the Lagos State Government (LASG) during the 2nd and 3rd quarters of 2023.

Doherty’s letter, titled “Open Letter On Selected Public Procurement By LASG In The Period April – September 2023,” scrutinizes various expenditures, calling for further investigation and corrective measures.

Among the highlighted concerns is the approval of N531.5 million for the renovation of St. Andrew Anglican Church, Oke-Popo, Lagos.

Additionally, Doherty raised eyebrows over the replacement of liquid fragrance for the Governor’s office, costing N7.4 million.

Other contentious expenses include a monthly empowerment budget of N30 million for the wife of the Deputy Governor and an allocation of N18.4 million from the Chief of Staff’s office for the supply and distribution of 2000 noiler across local government areas and wards.

Further discrepancies were pointed out, such as the N20.8 million earmarked for the decoration of the venue for the political delegates congress and N2 billion for rechargeable fans were also called into question by Doherty.
