The police said they have apprehended a suspect linked to the heinous murder of Miss Toyin Bamidele, a student pursuing her Higher Diploma (HND) in Food Technology at the Federal Polytechnic, Offa, Kwara State.
According to a statement by the State Commissioner, Victor Olaiya, the individual is said to be currently aiding the police in their ongoing investigation.
Offa, a town in Kwara State, was shattered last Thursday with the shocking murder of Miss Toyin Bamidele.
The 23-year-old was found lifeless in her room at a private hostel residence in the Dapson area of Offa.
The Kwara State Police Command, under the leadership of Olaiya, swung into action upon receiving the distressing news on November 16, 2023.
A team of investigators, led by the Divisional Police Officer of Offa Division, was promptly dispatched to the crime scene.
The initial investigation painted a chilling picture. The young student was discovered in a pool of blood within her rented apartment, with disturbing signs of violence evident on her face and neck regions.

The body was subsequently moved to Wale Clinic and Hospital, where the grim reality was confirmed by a medical practitioner. The mortal remains of Miss Bamidele have since been placed in the mortuary, awaiting autopsy.
However, Commissioner Olaiya, while addressing the incident, reaffirmed the command’s unwavering commitment to ensuring the safety and security of the citizens and their property. He expressed a firm resolve to leave no stone unturned in uncovering the truth behind this tragic event.
In light of the current circumstances, the police command has issued an advisory urging the public to exercise heightened vigilance, cautioning that malevolent elements may be on the prowl, seeking potential victims.
