Tragic Auto Crash in Niger Claims 17 Lives

A devastating auto crash occurred on Tuesday at Takalafia village on the Yawuri Expressway in Magama Local Government Area of Niger, resulting in the deaths of 17 people.

The accident was confirmed by Mr. Bisi Kazeem, a deputy corps marshal and Corps Public Education Officer at the Federal Road Safety Corps, in a statement issued in Abuja.

The accident, which involved a DAF vehicle, occurred around 3 a.m. and affected 229 individuals, including 220 male adults, four female adults, and five male children.

According to Kazeem, the driver of the vehicle was speeding, which led to a loss of control and the subsequent crash.

In the aftermath of the accident, 206 male adults, one female adult, and one male child were rescued, all of whom sustained varying degrees of injuries. The injured victims have been transported to Kontagora General Hospital in Niger for immediate medical attention.

The bodies of the 17 individuals who tragically lost their lives in the crash have been deposited in the mortuary of the same hospital.
