Nwifuru Defends Bulletproof Vehicles for Ebonyi Chief Justice and Speaker

Governor Francis Nwifuru of Ebonyi State has asserted that the Chief Judge and House of Assembly Speaker should utilize bulletproof vehicles, aligning with his own security measures.

The governor emphasized that uniform official paraphernalia across the three tiers of government promotes overall peace, harmony, and development. During a dinner for the Minister of Justice and Attorney-General, Mr Lateef Fagbemi, Governor Nwifuru highlighted the pivotal roles of the judiciary and legislature in delivering democracy’s dividends.

He stated, “The legislature and judiciary deliver dividends of democracy to the people more than the executive arm.”

Governor Nwifuru acknowledged the risks faced by judges in sentencing convicted criminals, particularly when released through prerogative of mercy. Despite challenges, he expressed commitment to enhancing the state judiciary.

In response, Mr Lateef Fagbemi commended the governor’s passion and efficient attorney-general. Pledging federal support, he vowed to implement policies reforming the nation’s judiciary.

Amidst this, it’s noteworthy that Ebonyi State grapples with a high poverty rate of 79.76%.
