In a highly anticipated development, the Court of Appeal in Lagos State is poised to deliver its judgment today on the contentious Ogun State 2023 governorship election.
The case revolves around the petition filed by Ladi Adebutu, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate, challenging the victory of Governor Dapo Abiodun of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the March 18 election.
Adebutu’s petition alleges non-compliance with the Electoral Act, citing irregularities and corrupt practices that, according to him, tainted the electoral process.
One of the central claims is the disenfranchisement of over 40,000 voters due to incidents of violence during the election.
Having approached the tribunal seeking to nullify Governor Abiodun’s victory and declare himself the winner, Adebutu faced disappointment when the tribunal upheld the governor’s election.
