The Leader of INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church, Primate Elijah Ayodele, said that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Labour Party face imminent collapse unless they take decisive action to salvage their positions.
Characterizing the present condition of the opposition as critical, Primate Ayodele predicted that both parties would cease to exist in the next three years unless they opt for a merger.
He emphasized that the only viable salvation for these parties from an impending demise is a strategic merger, cautioning that failure to do so will result in a continued erosion of their relevance within the political landscape of the country.
In a statement signed by his spokesman, Oluwatosin Osho, Ayodele said: ‘’PDP and Labour Party are already in ‘Coma’; they will be ‘buried ’in three years if they don’t merge. There are forces troubling them, but they have not seen it. They need to fight it spiritually before fighting it politically.
‘’The only thing that can save the major oppositions—the Labour Party and PDP—is a merger; if not, they will go into oblivion before the next election. If they don’t put their selfish intentions behind them, 10 million Atikus will not be able to do it, and Obasanjo will just be ranting till he is called home.’’

Regarding the PDP specifically, Primate Ayodele observed that it is destined to fade into obscurity as its active members are poised to defect to the ruling party, leading to a betrayal of the party’s presidential candidate, Abubakar Atiku.
He pointed out that the party is currently plagued by three factions of politicians, each driven by their individual and self-serving agendas.
‘’PDP will become a forgotten party if they are not careful. This government will render the party powerless if care isn’t taken. The majority of those in the party now are looking for survival. Atiku will face more betrayal than ever in this dispensation, but they will still fight him. PDP has become three factions already fighting for their selfish needs, the governors will be misled. Some of these PDP members will still decamp.’’
Ayodele’s comment coincides with the call made by the PDP presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, urging the opposition to unite against the All Progressives Congress (APC) in preparation for the 2027 elections.
Atiku expressed concern that the APC’s actions were leading Nigeria towards anarchy and a one-party state, underscoring the necessity for opposition parties to join forces.
