“Don’t Worry, Appointments will Reach you Soon” Ekiti State Gov. Oyebanji Tells Aggrieved APC Members

Appointments

The Governor of Ekiti State, Biodun Oyebanji, has assured the aggrieved members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state that he will address their concerns and make appointments to various positions soon.

He made this statement on Saturday while swearing in his new Special Adviser on Sustainable Development Goal, Adewole Ajakaye, and the new Permanent Secretary of the Local Government Service Commission, Titilayo Toba-Ojo, at the governor’s office in Ado Ekiti.

He said that the appointments would be made after the Local Government elections scheduled for December, following the party’s agreed criteria for the selection process.

He said, “I won’t sit here and make appointments on my own. We’ll use the same committee system to ensure fairness based on recommendations from all Local Governments. It won’t be up to me.”

He stressed the need for trust among the party members and said that the same method used for choosing commissioners would be applied for other appointments.

He said, “We’ve done it before, and if it worked, we’ll improve the committee for better performance. Hopefully, before the end of the year, they’ll give us suitable recommendations, and we’ll announce appointments.”

He admitted that he could not appoint every party member, but he said that he would align his policies with their interests.

He emphasized the importance of appointing people who are committed to serving their communities.

He also urged the new appointees to justify the trust placed in them and avoid laxity in their duties.

He said, “Your position depends on your performance. We have a duty to the people of Ekiti State to deliver on their trust. Our decisions will be based on results, as we are accountable to the people who have given us their destiny.”

He said that the Office of Transformation would evaluate all political appointees after one year and make further decisions based on their performances.

He also advised those who have expectations from the new appointees to refrain from putting undue pressure on them so that they can focus and deliver effectively. He assured them of the government’s support for their success in their roles.

In his response, Adewole Ajakaye, speaking on behalf of the new appointees, thanked the government for the opportunity and pledged their loyalty and dedication to fulfilling their mandates.
