Tinubu Promises Fuel Price Reduction and Agricultural Support

Bola Ahmed Tinubu, in a recent speech said that the current high price of fuel in the country will soon be reduced when some local refineries begin production of petroleum products.

“Very soon, some of our local refineries will start production and the current exorbitant prices of fuel energy will be greatly reduced,” he said.

Tinubu made this statement during the 11th Convocation ceremony of the Michael Okpara University of Agriculture Umudike, (MOUAU), where he was represented by the Executive Secretary, Agricultural Research Council of Nigeria, Professor Garba Sharubutu.

He said that his administration was aware of the prevailing economic hardship and insecurity in the country, and appealed for patience and support from Nigerians.

He also revealed that part of the supplementary budget that the Parliament had approved would be used to bring interventions at critical segments of the agricultural sector.

Tinubu also urged universities of Agriculture in the country to rise to the challenges of food scarcity and to partner with private organizations to scale up agricultural research findings.

He said that his administration would continue to provide the needed support to specialized universities and agric-related institutions to fulfill their mandate.He acknowledged the multiplicity of Nigeria’s challenges but said he was making spirited efforts to solve them.
