The Delta State Police Command emphasizes that individuals in Nigeria exhibiting dubious wealth from unverifiable income sources may undergo investigation and face legal charges.
Bright Edafe, the Police Public Relations Officer, affirms that the police possess the authority to apprehend those unable to substantiate their income origins and initiate court proceedings against them.
On Sunday, Edafe expressed on his X handle that he found it disheartening that individuals considered it inappropriate to scrutinize what he referred to as the “questionable wealth” of Nigerians.
The police spokesperson highlighted the prevalence of kidnapping, ritual killings, and internet fraud in the country.

He emphasized that the police force had instructed its personnel to act ethically, urging them to refrain from viewing legitimate sources of income as opportunities to exploit and extort Nigerians.
He said, “It is a very sad trend that people feel it’s wrong to question the suspicious wealth of persons who cannot lay claim to any justifiable means of income. We have cases of ritual killings, kidnappings, and even internet fraud. We tell our men to do the right thing and not take it as an avenue to extort.
“However, any person arrested and can’t justify his source of income should be properly investigated and charged to court when the cockroach in his cupboard has been unveiled. Like me, hate me, I don’t mind, it’s the simple truth.”
