The Sokoto State government has approved a substantial sum of N1.1 billion for the purchase of vehicles for the governor’s office. This approval is part of a larger N19 billion contract award aimed at infrastructure development across the state.
Following the weekly cabinet meeting, Bello Danchadi, the Commissioner for Information, announced the news at a press briefing in Sokoto. He said that the governor had fulfilled campaign pledges by awarding these contracts.
The governor’s office car budget is a component of a larger infrastructure development strategy. This comprises the N8.9 billion construction of 47 cluster roads in the Tudun Wada and Unguwar Rogo neighbourhoods of Sokoto city. The cabinet also approved the N816.2 million Bidinga Road project and the N2.1 billion development and repair of township roads in the Runjin Sambo area.
The reconstruction of Kalambaina, Roul-Mairuwa, Tsohuwar Kasuwa, and Lodge and Force Avenue Roads, at a cost of roughly N800 million, is one of the other contracts that were awarded. The construction of the rural road between Gande and Silame was awarded at a cost of N2.2 billion.
