The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) apprehended 25 young individuals at a pre-wedding event in Katsina State, known for drug abuse competitions.
The event was part of the wedding festivities, according to Femi Babafemi, the spokesperson for the NDLEA.
According to Arise News, acting on credible information, NDLEA officers interrupted the drug abuse competition in a community known as Shola Quarters, Katsina.
The officers arrested 25 youths who were actively participating in the drug party, indulging in various illegal substances, including a cocktail of drugs mixed in a plastic bucket.
Although the groom, Musa Gwandi, who had organised the drug party with his friends, was not present at the venue when the arrests were made, he was later apprehended on Sunday, December 3rd, after a thorough search for him.
On the same day, NDLEA operatives in Anambra intercepted a truck with the license plate BEN 302 YS (Edo).

The NDLEA’s World Against Drug Abuse (WADA) advocacy campaign continued in full swing across the country over the past week. The campaign included sensitisation lectures and town hall meetings in schools, markets, places of worship, and other locations.
Some of the notable events were held in Rivers, Oyo, Osun, Adamawa, Cross River, Zamfara, and Anambra.
Brig. Gen. Buba Marwa (Retd), Chairman/Chief Executive Officer of NDLEA, praised the efforts of the officers and men of the AIIA, MMIA, Katsina, Anambra, Kaduna, Kogi, Borno, Ondo, and FCT Commands, as well as those of Seaports Operations, for their successful arrests and seizures over the past week.
He encouraged all members of the agency to continue their aggressive actions against drug abuse while balancing their efforts with drug demand reduction initiatives.
