The presidential candidate for the Labour Party in the 2023 election, Peter Obi, has visited Barau Dikko Teaching Hospital to meet with and express solidarity with the victims of the recent accidental military air strike in Tudun Biri village, who are currently undergoing treatment.
During a press briefing, Obi emphasized the importance of the Federal Government prioritizing ample funding for the military and other security agencies.
He pointed out the concerning trend of 16 accidental military bombings across the nation, resulting in the loss of over 500 lives.
Peter Obi questioned the government’s apparent lack of preventative measures against such tragedies and called for increased funding to address the contemporary security challenges facing the country.

In addition to his calls for enhanced security funding, Obi proposed the establishment of a foundation dedicated to supporting the victims, particularly orphaned children.
The foundation aims to provide long-term care and support for those affected by such unfortunate incidents.
While speaking to journalists, Obi said, “I want to appreciate the hard work of the military in helping us to secure the country, but then we should also reexamine and ask ourselves this fundamental question about this reoccurrence of bombing citizens by mistake, which has claimed almost 500 people; why is it happening?
“The government should support the military to ensure that something like this doesn’t happen again. So, I’ll be making a donation of about N5 million.”
