Controversial ex-Niger Delta militant Asari-Dokubo has unleashed a torrent of criticism against the current government, labeling it the “worst” and declaring it an affront to the Ijaw people in a recent video.
With a history as the president of the Ijaw Youth Council and founder of the Niger Delta People’s Volunteer Force, Dokubo is no stranger to political turbulence.
Dokubo, previously a key supporter of Bola Tinubu, had previously assured the Ijaw community during the election campaign, stating, “If Tinubu fails, hold me responsible.” He boasted to the nation that his support for Tinubu remains unwavering, with a July 2023 video depicting Dokubo addressing fervent foot soldiers who echoed their allegiance to the Tinubu.
Raising the stakes, Dokubo singled out Rivers State as the “litmus test” for potential unrest, hinting at a possible fiery confrontation.
“If there is going to be any fire, it will start from Rivers State”, he said.
