In a recent meeting with political party leaders, the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Professor Mahmood Yakubu has disclosed plans for bye-elections to fill legislative vacancies on February 1, 2024.
The move comes in response to court orders, resignations, and deaths, prompting the need for rerun elections in 34 federal and state constituencies.

The vacancies include one senatorial seat, 11 federal constituencies, and 22 state constituencies, as directed by the courts after legal battles.
