Kashim Shettima said on Wednesday that there will be a swift recovery for Nigeria’s economy and key sectors within the next few months.
During a visit by the graduating class of the second cohort of the Legislative Mentorship Initiative, led by the President’s Chief of Staff, Femi Gbajabiamila, Shettima encouraged Nigerian graduates to channel their potential toward building a brighter future for the country instead of seeking opportunities abroad.
Shettima assured the graduates that the country would rebound in a couple of months, dismissing the notion of greener pastures elsewhere.
In a statement by the Senior Special Assistant to the VP on Media and Communications, Stanley Nkwocha, titled ‘Let’s make Nigeria green instead of seeking greener pastures, Shettima tells graduates,’ Shettima urged the youths to stay in their homeland, emphasizing the potential for success within Nigeria.

He encouraged the graduates to reject disillusionment, emphasizing their significance as Nigerians, and challenged them to contribute to the nation’s progress.
Shettima acknowledged the current challenges but expressed a determined vision for overcoming them, stating, “Our country is going through some difficulties and challenges, but we are going to surmount it. We are going to cross the Rubicon. We are going to cross the Red Sea and take you to the land of opportunities and blessings.”

Praising the graduates’ digital prowess, the Vice President urged them to utilize their skills for national development.
He emphasized the importance of staying in the country and working collectively to make it thrive, saying, “Let’s stay here and make this country work. This is our country. The future belongs to you.”
Shettima challenged the graduates’ perception of leadership, highlighting the importance of intellectual agility over physical strength.
He encouraged them to reject negativity and become active participants in shaping Nigeria’s destiny.
Responding to the Shettima’s remarks, the founder of the LMI program, Mr. Gbajabiamila, recognized the unique potential of the cohort, expressing confidence that they would achieve greater feats than previous generations.
