Late Akeredolu’s Deputy, Lucky Aiyedatiwa to be Sworn in As Governor 4pm Today in Akure

Ondo State is ready to usher in a new era of leadership as Lucky Aiyedatiwa, the acting governor, will be sworn in as the new governor today, following the demise of Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, SAN, CON.

Akeredolu, who died on Wednesday, December 27, 2023, in Germany, handed over power to his deputy, Aiyedatiwa, on December 13, 2023, before embarking on his final medical trip.

He succumbed to prostate cancer at the age of 67.

Aiyedatiwa, who was away in his hometown for the festive season, is expected to arrive in Akure, the state capital, anytime soon for the historic occasion.

The swearing-in ceremony is slated for 4pm, unless there is a last-minute hitch.

The state Chief Judge, Justice Olusegun Odusola, will preside over the oath-taking of the incoming governor.
