SEEPCO Supports 150 Pregnant Women With LLINs In Lagos To Combat Malaria

Sterling Oil Exploration & Energy Production Co. Ltd. (SEEPCO) has set up a malaria prevention initiative at the Lagos Island Maternity Hospital in Lagos. As part of this initiative, 150 pregnant women have been given Long-Lasting Insecticide-Treated Nets (LLINs) to protect them from malaria.

Malaria is a big problem during the rainy season, so a health effort was started to deal with it.

Dr. Olufemi Omololu, the Chief Medical Director of Lagos Island Maternity Hospital; Dr. Ogungbemile, the Deputy Chief Medical Director of Lagos Island Maternity Hospital; Nurse Champion Elizabeth Oluwatoyin, the Apex Nurse at Lagos Island Maternity Hospital; and Pharm. Mrs.Olubajo, the Director of Pharmacy at Lagos Island Maternity Hospital, praised the SEEPCO malaria prevention program.

During the event, Dr. Olufemi Omololu, the Chief Medical Director of the Lagos Island Maternity Hospital, said, “Prevention is better than treatment. Malaria has been one of the most serious problems we’ve had. Malaria can be stopped by taking steps like improving sanitation, using bug repellents, making the environment safe, and teaching people more about health.

He said that the fight against malaria is still getting better, even though the disease is still a huge problem, but it can be prevented and treated.

Nurse Champion Elizabeth Oluwatoyin, Apex Nurse at Lagos Island Maternity Hospital, said, “Most people who die from malaria are pregnant women and children. They don’t know everything there is to know about how hard it is to treat malaria. This kind of initiative gives a framework for improving prevention measures.”

SEEPCO is always committed to providing sustainable development programs that improve health and safety, give communities more power, and change people’s lives.

Malaria has been a problem for a very long time. It is a dangerous sickness that can kill people. To get rid of malaria, the community needs to do more, so regular awareness programs and medical help at the right time are important.

Malaria hurts the health of babies, young children, and women who are pregnant in a big way. They are the most helpless people in our towns. It is very important for their health and well-being to keep them safe from mosquito bites. We can lower the chance of diseases being spread by mosquitoes by making sure the area is safe.
